The Hanson Center for Communication at the University of Iowa's College of
Engineering hostes a Three Minute Thesis competition this fall. Students present
their research topic in a matter of three minutes for a general audience. I was awarded
$100 as a judge selected Honorable Mention.
Earlier in October, I also participated in the University wide graduate student three minute
thesis competition. I was able to harness this experience to not only improve my slildes with
the valuable feedback from judges, but enhance my communication skills in discussing complex
topics.

One the left is the first slide that I presented and on the right is the improved slide
that got me second place! The first time I presented I was way too technical and am proud of how I was able
to create a fun graphic using an image from teh European Space Agency.

The Univerity of Iowa wanted to highlight the amazing opportunities graduate Students
can be apart of. I had the pleasure to talk about my work and how it relates to the TRACERS
satellite project. Check out the video and the link below.
I attended the Hesto Conference where I was able to give a 15 minute presentation about my research in
mitigating magnetic noise from spacecrafts. Reaction wheels that are used to maintain the attitude of the
satellite are common interference sources. We see interesting signatures in the time-frequency domain where
we can track the interference based on the spin of the reaction wheel.
